We are delighted to be able to pass on to you the message from the Bishop which was announced at both our services on Christmas Day:
The Bishop is pleased to announce that, following a recent meeting of the Diocesan Board of Nomination, he has invited the Reverend Rana Khan to accept the post of Rector of Crickhowell with Cwmdu and Tretower and Ministry Area leader of the Catwg (Crickhowell) Ministry Area. Revd Rana has recently finished his post as Interim Priest of John Keble Church, Mill Hill, in the Diocese of London. A date for an Induction will be fixed as soon as all necessary administrative and personnel formalities have been completed.
Rana has been living in London for several years with his wife and three sons, and is Chairman of the CMS Asia Forum. He was born into a Christian family in Vahari, a small town in Southern Punjab in Pakistan. Since childhood, he has had an extraordinary interaction with people of other faiths, mainly Muslims. Rana has seen God working amazingly in his life as a Christian in Pakistan, spending a few years in a Mosque school and later becoming a Priest. This has given him a great confidence to engage with and live among others to learn, live and to share. He has worked extensively with the current and previous Archbishops of Canterbury in strengthening relationships with the Church in Pakistan.
He and his family have visited Crickhowell on two occasions and had an opportunity to meet all the clergy and lay readers and to have lunch with members of the Ministry Area Council. Everyone to whom I have spoken, who has met Rana, has been very supportive of this decision.
Please remember the Khan family in your prayers as they prepare to move to the Diocese.
