Revd Sally Rees, along with co-author Julia Burton-Jones, will be presenting her new book ‘Enabling Spiritual Care’ at an event in the Book-ish Loft on 30 July.
Pray for the Celtic Roots Festival
The upcoming Celtic Roots Festival is a response to the LyCiG challenge to be more present in our communities. Another aspect of this challenge is to be praying more for our communities. Mission Group Prayer
The mission group at St Ed’s have pledged to hold a monthly prayer meeting for world mission. The first meeting will start at 7.30pm on 3rd July in the Lady Chapel.

Sponsored Walk
Saturday 12 August, 11am Eluned Watkins and her “trusty rollator” will be walking 30 laps around the church. Eluned will be raising money for Youbab Khan as he volunteers to go to an orphanage in Uganda for two months. Youbab will be teaching, befriending, sports coaching, mentoring and so much more. Please come to show your support for Youbab and Eluned – and please sponsor them!
Martin James’ Funeral
The funeral of Martin James will be held on 3rd August 10.30am – Langstone Vale crematorium: Magor Rd, Langstone, Newport, NP18 2BP 1pm – Celebration of life at St Edmund’s Church, Crickhowell, NP8 1BB. Wear what you are comfortable in. Splashes of colour welcomed. 2.30pm – Gathering at The Manor Hotel, Brecon Road, Crickhowell, NP8 1SE for refreshments.

Ed and Suzanne have completed their challenge and have the video to prove it! There is still time to give to this appeal on their Just Giving page to raise money for Tearfund, helping those worst affected by the climate crisis.

Climate Sunday
Last Sunday, 5th September, we held our Climate Sunday service, including the presentation of our Eco Church Bronze Award. This marks the first milestone in our journey towards net-zero carbon by 2030. You can find out more about what we’re doing on our own Eco Church website.

We are pleased to announce that St Edmund’s Church has achieved the Bronze award level in the A Rocha Eco Church scheme. We are now working hard to achieve silver – how appropriate in this Olympic year! Find out more about what we’re doing on the St Edmund’s Eco Church website.
Brecon Foodbank at Christmas
At Christmas time, and this year especially, the needs are greater than ever. This is the current list of items needed as soon as possible and definitely before December 18th. The collection point is Crickhowell News. There is also a Gift Tree system in Brecon, whereby one can find a gift tag, look at what is written on it and purchase it, handing it in to collection points in Brecon. Tearfund Big Quiz Night
Saturday 14 November at 7pm. We join churches all across the UK in taking a quiz as an annual fundraising effort for Tearfund’s work with the poor of the world.
