Bishop Mano Rumalshah, former Secretary General of the United Society Partners in the Gospel (USPG), who also served as the Bishop of Peshawar. This area covers most of the northern part of Pakistan and the border of Pakistan and Afghanistan – a refuge for the Taliban and one of the most hostile settings on earth. This year’s Lent study course follows the theme Feed My Sheep and is supported by David Suchet’s film In the Footsteps of St Peter. The course takes place in the church and everyone is welcome to attend, whether you are a regular member of St Edmund’s or not. There will be a short introduction to the course after the Ash Wednesday service.

Dr Muthuraj Swamy will be reflecting on Jesus conversations during the Holy Week ‘And from that day no-one dared to ask him any more questions’ Dr Swamy is Director of the Cambridge Centre for Christianity Worldwide, and Project Manager for Theological Education for Mission in the Anglican Communion. He was a theological educator in India, and the author of ‘Reconciliation’, the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Lent book 2019. The book will be available from Bookish soon.

The meeting will be held in church before the 10.45am service. A light breakfast will be available from 9am following the 9am communion service. Anthony Silwood is standing down as People’s Warden at the AVM. He will be a very hard act to follow, so please do think about who you would like to nominate, and speak to Rana about your proposal. Debbie from Petals is coming to entertain us again and to demonstrate what we should be doing with spring flowers. It promises to be another enjoyable evening. Entry by ticket £7.50 to include a complimentary glass of wine and nibbles. Tickets are now available, in church from members of the fundraising team, or from Petals on the High Street.

Afternoon Tea and Talk We will be serving Afternoon Tea at 3pm followed by Roger White’s talk entitled Buen Camino. He is going to share his experiences on his pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela. He has some amazing photographs and tales to tell. Entry by ticket, £10 per person.

Join us for the day as we take a coach trip to Oxford. We will be leaving the High School car park at 8am. Please add your name to the list at the back of church if you want to join us – there are very few seats left now so don’t leave it too late! £22.50 per ticket. Payment is now due, preferably by cheque made out to St Edmund’s Church.
